At Big Blue Whale, we love collaborating with schools that celebrate diversity, and Leeds Trinity Academy (TAL) is a shining example. When TAL invited us back to film their first-ever Fusion Culture Day, after the success of their promotional video, we were thrilled. This event wasn’t just a typical project for us—it was a vibrant celebration of TAL’s diverse cultural community. The day highlighted the school’s rich heritage with activities ranging from the arts and sports to cultural dress, role models, and even a school-created cookbook! As an education video production company, capturing moments like these is always rewarding. Our aim was to reflect TAL’s values of respect, unity, and belonging.

Planning and Capturing Key Moments

Our collaboration with TAL’s headteacher made the planning process seamless. Their excitement for the day was contagious, and we wanted to ensure that the video would be just as engaging as the event itself. From the welcome assembly where students arrived in colorful cultural attire, to competitions and sports activities, we captured it all. Every detail mattered, and we worked together to plan key moments that would highlight the unique energy of the day. This included vibrant cultural performances and interactive projects, all of which brought the students together while celebrating their differences.

The Gear and Bringing Fusion Day to Life

To capture the dynamic energy of the day, we used a combination of the Sony FX9 for stunning high-resolution footage and the A7S3 on a gimbal for smooth, fluid shots. We captured everything from sweeping views of the courtyard filled with students in traditional dress to intimate close-ups of their reactions during performances. The day was filled with excitement, and it was a joy to see students immersing themselves in the cultural experiences. The final video brings this energy to life, reflecting the unity and pride that TAL fosters within its multicultural community.
